CUNA celebrates 20 years of association with Children’s Miracle Network at GAC

WASHINGTON, DC (February 24, 2016) — During the General Session of CUNA’s Governmental Affairs Conference, CUNA President and CEO Jim Nussle proudly presented Joe Dearborn, Senior Director of Credit Unions for Kids, with a check made out to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals for $150 Million marking the celebration of their 20th Anniversary of raising money nationally.

Upon accepting, Dearborn commented that he is “proud to be a shining example of credit unions cooperating to showcase the credit union difference.”

These generous donations, raised a dollar at a time, go to the respective credit union’s local CMN Hospital and help support life-saving research, new facilities, equipment, patient services, and health education programs benefitting ten million children annually.

John Schneider, best known as co-founder of Children’s Miracle Network and role as Bo Duke in Dukes of Hazard, sent a special video message as an introduction to the presentation, thanking credit unions for their support. He noted that while he’s appreciative of the funds, he’s not surprised since helping communities, especially the underserved, is “in credit unions’ DNA.”

“Your commitment over the past 20 years has had an unimaginable impact on families across this country,” Schnieder continued, “and for that we are forever grateful.”
