CUNA to host webinar series on social media compliance

WASHINGTON, DC (October 28, 2015) — Credit Union National Association has announced it will offer CUNA 2015 Social Media Compliance Webinar Series, a month-long series of online training sessions that address compliance issues in social media marketing. The series will last November 4 – December 2, 2015.

“In the credit union movement, social media has become a key platform for marketing, engagement and outreach, and like any other platform, it is governed by complex regulations,” said Melisa Kallestad, Instructional Design Manager at CUNA. “By taking part in this webinar series, credit union marketers and compliance professionals will be able to ensure the propriety of all their social media initiatives.”

Leading the sessions will be Compass 4 CUs, LLC President/CEO Gaye DeCesare and VP Kristen Tatlock. The series will address various regulations that affect social media marketing compliance including the Truth in Savings Act, NCUA share insurance requirements and Unfair, Deceptive or Abusive Acts and Practices (UDAAP). The webinars will cover a range of compliance issues including basic provisions and expectations, advertising requirements, employee usage, risks and more.

The four sessions are:

  • Social Media Compliance Do’s and Don’ts (Nov. 4)
  • Advertising Share Account Products via Social Media (Nov. 18)
  • Lending Advertisement Rules and Requirements (Nov. 25)
  • Social Media Compliance Risks (Dec. 2)
