Credit union’s history with Cy-Fair ISD featured at Diamond Jubilee
HOUSTON, TX (August 11, 2014) -- Cy-Fair Federal Credit Union celebrated the kickoff of Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District’s (CFISD) 75th anniversary during a community-wide Diamond Jubilee on Saturday, August 9. The credit union has been named the anniversary’s diamond sponsor and will be a featured partner of CFISD at anniversary events throughout the 2014-2015 academic year.
“The school district’s anniversary marks a major milestone—75 years of outstanding service and dedication to our community, students and families,” said Cameron Dickey, president of Cy-Fair FCU. “It’s truly a privilege to honor the many administrators, teachers and staff who over the years have been such an important part of our community’s prosperity.”
Cy-Fair FCU owes its existence to the school district. In 1956, a handful of CFISD educators founded the credit union to provide school district employees with a more personalized banking experience. Cy-Fair FCU began operating out of Cy-Fair High School with a teacher serving as its first manager. Though the credit union now serves more than 20,000 local residents across the Cy-Fair community, it retains a close relationship with the school district and its employees.

CFISD, which officially marks 75 years of service to the Cy-Fair community in December 2014, is the third largest school district in Texas and one of the fasting growing districts in the country. It serves nearly 110,000 students and employs more than 13,000 local residents.
