Cy-Fair Federal Credit Union welcomes John Smith as chief financial officer
HOUSTON, TX (September 10, 2014) — Cy-Fair Federal Credit Union, a $195 million credit union in southeast Texas, has hired John Smith as its chief financial officer. As CFO, Smith will lead Cy-Fair’s financial operations—including investment portfolio management, balance sheet strategies, budget preparation, financial performance, risk management and accounting practices—and interact with regulatory bodies, the financial community and external auditors.
Smith brings more than three decades of related experience to his new position and a wide range of skills, including balance sheet and investment portfolio management. Most recently, Smith served as CFO at Capital West Bank, where he built a robust finance department and helped strengthen the bank’s profitability following the recent recession. Smith has also worked with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and has been a successful CPA and CEO.
“John possesses an impressive resume within the financial industry and has helped strengthen the organizations where he led so they could serve their communities more fully,” said Cy-Fair President Cameron Dickey. “His experience and business acumen are tremendous assets to our credit union, and I look forward to his contributions on our outstanding executive leadership team.”

Smith holds a Bachelor’s Degree in business administration from the University of Tennessee and is a certified public accountant through the State of Tennessee.
