DCECU employees raise money for homeless shelter

MIDLAND, MI (May 8, 2015) — Staff members at Dow Chemical Employees’ Credit Union raised $380 for the Good Samaritan Rescue Mission through their most recent “Jeans Day for Charity” fundraiser. For each of the one-day fundraisers throughout the year, participating DCECU employees donate a minimum of $5, which entitles them to wear blue jeans, tennis shoes and logoed attire to work that day.

Located in Bay City, the Good Samaritan Rescue Mission provides emergency assistance to people in mid-Michigan in their time of need. Counselors meet with each client to identify the services needed. The mission’s goal is to fully address the needs faced by the homeless individual or family, to assist with the immediate need for shelter, and to provide the tools that will lead clients to become productive members of the community.

“The credit union regularly promotes fundraisers to support nonprofit organizations that assist members of our regional community,” said DCECU President/CEO Dennis Hanson. “Through donations and volunteerism, we emphasize the importance of working with community organizations and of giving back year-round.”

Thus far in 2015, DCECU employees have raised more than $1,100 for charitable and community organizations through regular Jeans Day for Charity fundraisers.
