DCECU employees raise money for United Way of Midland County

MIDLAND, MI (November 6, 2014)  Employees at Dow Chemical Employees’ Credit Union raised $340 for United Way of Midland County through their most recent “Jeans Day” fundraiser. For each of the one-day fundraisers, which occur throughout the year, participating credit union employees donate a minimum of $5, which entitles them to wear blue jeans, tennis shoes and logoed attire to work that day.

United Way of Midland County recruits people and organizations to advance the common good by creating opportunities for a better life for all. The nonprofit focuses on education, health and self-sufficiency.

In addition to the money raised through the staff-initiated “Jeans Day” fundraiser, the credit union raised more than $25,000 in donations and corporate pledges to support the United Way’s 2014 campaign.

“We take our responsibility to the community very seriously,” said DCECU President/CEO Dennis Hanson. “Our staff truly believes in giving back to help those who need it most. It’s this giving spirit that has shaped the credit union and our dedication to local nonprofit groups, such as United Way.”

Thus far in 2014, the employees have raised approximately $4,400 for charitable and community organizations through regular Jeans Day fundraisers and other fundraising initiatives. In addition, staff members have organized and participated in service activities such as roadway cleanup projects and Habitat for Humanity volunteer events.
