About Personal Assistance Options, Inc. (PAO)
PAO (paomidland.org) is a nonprofit organization that serves residents of Midland, Bay and Arenac counties who have differing abilities. PAO’s confidential services enable individuals with disabilities to remain in their home, no matter the level of care needed. With a mission to “provide support to individuals with disabilities based on their personal needs and goals in life,” PAO’s services are tailored to help each person be as independent as possible and have a meaningful life. In 2019, the organization served approximately 150 adults and youths with special needs, providing 152,000 hours of support. PAO’s main program, Community Living Support, offers assistance with medications and medical appointments; personal and home care (meals, grocery-shopping and household tasks); and social needs, such as community inclusion and transportation to community events. PAO also has a Mentoring program that focuses on youth development and skill-building and helps to teach appropriate social behaviors that are necessary to become a participating and responsible community member.
About the Great Lakes Loons
The Great Lakes Loons (loons.com) Minor League Baseball team has been the Single-A partner of the Los Angeles Dodgers since the team’s inception in 2007. Dow Diamond serves as the Loons’ home; the ballpark also houses the Michigan Baseball Foundation – a 501(c)(3) nonprofit public charity – as well as ESPN 100.9 FM radio.
