Denver Community Credit Union raises money for Children’s Hospital Colorado Foundation at 80th Annual Meeting

DENVER, CO (April 30, 2015) — Denver Community Credit Union used the backdrop of its 80th Annual Membership Meeting  to raise money to support the Children’s Hospital Colorado Foundation. Held at the Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum on April 23, members paid a $5 entry fee that went towards the donation. Denver Community Credit Union announced a donation match, which brings the total raised to $6,400.

Denver Community began in 1934 when ten employees of the City of Denver established ownership and began providing financial services. Since then, the credit union has grown to $269 million in assets and its net worth ratio increased to 14% in 2014.

“2014 was a strong and steady year for the credit union, resulting in growth in our loan and asset portfolios,” said Carla Hedrick, President and CEO. “Our loan portfolio grew by 10.2% and our assets grew to $269 million. The need and want for new vehicles was evident in our loan portfolio, and we continued to support the local economy by providing 31 small business loans to help local businesses thrive.”

Denver Community Credit Union’s mission is to make a difference in the lives of members through financial opportunity. Board chairwoman Helen Gonzales said, “Denver Community remains safe and sound thanks to the hard work and dedication of staff. It is our primary responsibility to protect members’ financial assets, and we take that responsibility seriously.”

The 80th Annual Meeting featured an update for members on the financial performance of the credit union, as well as a presentation by the Children’s Hospital Colorado Foundation champion family. Concern for community is one of the core cooperative principles of credit unions. By supporting the Children’s Hospital Foundation, credit union members are making a difference in the community.
