Desert Schools launches “Santa’s Bundle” program in honor of #GivingTuesday on Dec. 2
Arizona’s Largest Credit Union to Accept Nominations for $10,000 in Holiday Helper Gifts for Those in Need
PHOENIX, AZ (December 2, 2014) — Forget about Black Friday and Cyber Monday. This holiday season is all about #GivingTuesday. Today, Desert Schools honors the global day dedicated to giving back with the launch of its first #GivingTuesday initiative. Named “Santa’s Bundle,” the program will provide 10 individuals in-need with a gift of $1,000 this holiday season.
The initiative will feature a nomination process, inviting credit union members and non-members to write a three-paragraph email to Desert Schools, detailing why their friend, family member or co-worker needs – or simply deserves – a $1,000 Holiday Angels gift.
Those who wish to submit a nomination for consideration may email santasbundle@desertschools.org from Tuesday, December 2 through Wednesday, December 10. Nominations must include the name and contact information of the candidate, as well as the person providing the submission. Winners will be notified via phone on Monday, December 15.
“With Santa’s Bundle, our hope is to reach individuals and families that can truly benefit from the gift of $1,000 during a time that can be difficult for many, but simply overwhelming for others,” said Susan Frank, CEO of Desert Schools. “Our mission has always been to make a difference in the community we serve, but this holiday season, it is especially meaningful.”
This generous act of kindness caps off a banner 75th anniversary year for Desert Schools. The organization pledged to give back more than $1 million to the community in 2014 as part of its Shine On campaign, which will culminate in the presentation of a $30,000 grant to the competition’s winner on January 14, 2015.
