Directions Credit Union announced a new partnership with My First Nest Egg, a family-first financial wellness program for children and parents. The collaboration expands Directions’ commitment to serving families by providing free, age-appropriate tools that make building healthy money habits simple – at home and in classrooms across Northwest and Central Ohio and Southeast Michigan.
Rooted in the belief that strong habits start early, Directions Credit Union is deepening its support for the next generation through a fully branded, co-hosted version of the My First Nest Egg platform. Families will have access to engaging challenges, chore and allowance tools, real-world goal setting, and short, classroom-ready lessons that help parents and teachers bring money conversations to life in ways that are fun, practical, and consistent over time.
“At Directions Credit Union, our commitment to the youth in the communities we serve is at the heart of everything we do. By bringing My First Nest Egg’s youth program to our community, we’re empowering our youngest members to make smart money choices from an early age. We believe that teaching financial responsibility to children not only benefits them individually, but also helps build a stronger, more resilient community for everyone,” said Barry Shaner, President and CEO of Directions Credit Union.
Co-founded by two mothers and former attorneys, Nicolle Hood and Annie Shoen, My First Nest Egg was created to address the shortage of engaging, age-appropriate ways to teach kids about money. The program transforms complex ideas into bite-sized activities through stories, puzzles, and psychology-backed tools designed for children ages 3 to 13.
“At My First Nest Egg, our mission is to make financial education part of everyday life – on the fridge, in classrooms, and at the kitchen table,” said Nicolle Hood, Co-Founder & CEO of My First Nest Egg. “Directions Credit Union’s focus on community and financial wellness shine through in this partnership. Together we’re giving families simple, joyful ways to build healthy money habits that last.”
