Dow Credit Union has been recognized as one of the nation’s top credit unions for its direct financial benefits which rewarded $13.8 million to its members in 2023.
The award, presented by the Credit Union National Association, honors credit unions that provide the highest financial benefit to members in the form of lower loan rates, higher deposit yields and lower and fewer fees compared to banks.
“We are honored to be recognized by CUNA for our outstanding member benefits program,” said Michael Goad, Dow Credit Union president and CEO. “This award highlights our dedication to member value and service. Dow Credit union ensures our members’ assets are safe, secure and locally managed, which enables us to provide these exceptional perks.”
CUNA compared Dow Credit Union’s loan rates, deposit yields and fees to those of competing banks with more than $500 million in assets. CUNA determined that each Dow Credit Union member household received an average direct financial benefit of $1,254, placing its program near the top of the nationwide list.
“This award is just one example of the many ways Dow Credit Union provides benefits to our members,” Goad added. “For decades, Dow Credit Union has proudly returned a board-approved percentage of our annual earnings to members in good standing through our Member Giveback – making us one of a few credit unions nationwide to routinely give back a portion of our earnings to members.”
