DuPage Credit Union gives back through October events celebrating credit union membership

NAPERVILLE, IL (November 9, 2020) — DuPage Credit Union recently rolled CU Kind Day and International Credit Union Day into several days of festivities, October 13-16, to show its appreciation for its members and give back to the community.

“We have the best members,” said Vice President of Business Solutions Amy Brandt, “and with everything that has gone on in 2020 and our upcoming 65th anniversary we wanted to do something special to give back to our members and the community.”

Nearly 300 members attend Shred & Electronic Recycling Event & Help the Planet

During its October 16th free, member-exclusive event, the credit union collected nearly 12,000 pounds of paper and filled 12 Gaylord boxes with electronics to be recycled. “It’s amazing how every little bit adds up,” Brandt said. This small act equates too:

  • 101 trees saved
  • 41,625 gallons of water saved
  • 24,380 kilowatts of energy saved
  • 357 pounds of pollutants kept from the atmosphere
  • And 29.7 cubic yards of landfill space not needed.

$250 Ronald McDonald House Donation

Earlier in the week, credit union social media followers were asked to like a post and nominate a charitable organization to receive a $250 donation from the credit union. Forty followers submitted a plethora of charities ranging from local animal shelters and food banks to national children’s charities; with Ronald McDonald House winning by random draw. Christopher Rehbock, who nominated Ronald McDonald House, received $50 deposited into his credit union account.

Fun for Everyone

Throughout the week and during the shred event, members were given goody bags that contained DuPage Credit Union branded socks, masks, gloves and candy. Also included in the bags were contest cards that held online codes for a chance to win one-of-five (1-of-5) Visa Gift Cards.
