DuPage Credit Union Honored by the DuPage Region of the Illinois Principals’ Association (IPA) at Annual Recognition Breakfast

NAPERVILLE, IL (May 1, 2015) — DuPage Credit Union received the 2014-2015 Friend of the DuPage IPA Award for its 2014 We’ve Got Your Back backpack fundraiser. The Credit Union was recognized at the IPA DuPage Region’s Annual Recognition Breakfast celebrating outstanding students in elementary, middle and high schools on April 27th at the Medinah Shriners Atrium in Addison.

“Here in DuPage County, over the last 25 years, businesses and organizations working alongside Catholic Charities have assisted families in need, in providing supplies or services to children in DuPage County with the goal of having students prepared to start school each fall,” stated DuPage IPA Region Director Ryan Anderson. “One of the components of the Back to School Fair, which our DuPage regional office has worked to obtain has been backpacks and supplies for students to help insure all students have the needed components to be able to walk into class on the first day, ready to go.

“Last year through a great effort by the DuPage Credit Union, who raised $10,000, the regional office was able to supply 500 backpacks and sets of supplies to high school students. This very generous work from the credit union allowed for many students and families to be supported at a time that frankly can be filled with a lot of stress and anxiety for those children as they may be worrying about being prepared to learn.”

Funds were raised through various events last summer, including the Credit Union’s Drive, Drop & Donate event at its Operations Center, t-shirt and candy sales, along with the generous support of the Members of DuPage Credit Union.

“We’re honored to receive the Friend of the DuPage IPA Award,” said Amy Brandt, Vice President of Business Solutions at DuPage Credit Union. “We proudly collected $10,000 and have doubled our goal this year, to $20,000, with hopes to help 1,000 students and their families for the upcoming school year.”

2015 We’ve Got Your Back Campaign

This year, the Credit Union and the DuPage Regional Office of Education hope to raise $20,000 which will enable them to help 1,000 students of the nearly 5,000 local students who need assistance in DuPage County.

“When we began collecting school supplies a few years ago, we honestly had no idea how many kids in our own backyard were in need of basic supplies,” Brandt said, “It is our privilege to help students in DuPage County reach their highest potential.”
One hundred percent of the proceeds will be used to purchase backpacks and basic supplies needed throughout the school year, such as paper, pencils, erasers, calculators, etc.

Monetary donations are being accepted through August and can be made online at dupagecu.com/community or at a Branch Office: Bloomingdale, 202 S. Gary Ave.; Downers Grove, 725 Ogden Ave.; Naperville, 790 Royal St. George Dr.; and Wheaton, 625 E. Roosevelt Rd.
