Washington, DC – Time is running out for credit union managers to earn great savings to NAFCU’s 2012 Management Development Institute (MDI). The early bird enrollment deadline is Sept. 14.

MDI will be held Nov. 12-16 at the Washington Duke Inn in Durham, N.C.

Among the highlights at this year’s MDI will be a full-day strategic planning workshop delivered by business author John Spence.

“John Spence’s keynote presentation at NAFCU’s CEOs and Senior Executives Conference in April was such a hit that we’re bringing him back as an instructor at MDI,” said NAFCU Director of Events and Education Lisa Cox. “His workshop will help rising credit union leaders learn what it takes to build a winning culture that attracts and retains top talent, as well as how to lead high-performance teams.”

Spence is executive educator and author of Awesomely Simple – Essential Business Strategies for Turning Ideas Into Action. At 28, Spence was nominated as one of Florida’s top CEOs under 40 for his leadership of an international Rockefeller foundation, where he oversaw projects in 20 countries and reported directly to Chairman of the Board Winthrop P. Rockefeller. For the past 17 years, he has presented workshops, speeches and executive coaching to more than 300 organizations. In 2011, he was named one of the top 100 Business Thought Leaders in America and became Director of Best Practice Innovation at the Best Practice Institute.

Since 1991, MDI has provided a comprehensive, one-week executive education curriculum to prepare credit union leaders to grow and thrive in today’s complex financial services environment.

The in-depth curriculum for this year’s MDI will address the latest research on effective leadership, the importance of values-based leadership, top characteristics of outstanding leaders, and more. Students will also learn the keys to creating their own personal leadership development plan.

Enrollment is available to NAFCU members and nonmembers. For more information, visit www.nafcu.org/MDI.
