ECCU Gull Road Branch Getting New Office

Recently Educational Community Credit Union (ECCU) held a groundbreaking ceremony to commence construction on a new office for their Gull Road branch in Kalamazoo, Michigan. In attendance were ECCU’s Board of Directors and management staff, along with members of the Kalamazoo Chamber of Commerce. The office’s new location will be at 5901 Gull Road.

In the new 4,600 square foot office there will be many welcoming details, such as a children’s area, coffee bar and many environmentally friendly features. Drive thrus and drive up ATMs will also be available to members at the new branch.

Charles Cornelius, ECCU’s CEO and President stated, “I was a part of ECCU when we were first able to offer our members service at this location in 1987. I am pleased to now be able to thank them for the success of that office, not just with a new coat of paint or a few renovations, but by providing them a brand new office which will allow us to provide them a welcoming atmosphere and more space. The greater service we’ll be able to provide to our ECCU family is something we’re all looking forward to.”

ECCU collaborated with Level 5, a consulting and facilities development firm headquartered in Atlanta that specializes in and works exclusively with financial institutions across the United States. Construction is being sub-contracted locally to help fuel the local economy. Together they have developed a plan for improvements that will help the community and ECCU members feel even more at home when using the Gull Road branch.

Gull Road Branch Manager, Barb Heinonen said, “My staff and I appreciate the support that we have received from our members and the community, and are excited for a new building that will give us even more opportunity to make our current and future members feel welcome.”

Established in 1935, ECCU has $371 million in assets and serves nearly 36,000 members in the greater educational community, including employees, students, teachers, faculty and their families throughout 21 counties in Michigan.
