(July 2019) The $268 million Education Credit Union is pleased to announce the selection of Eric Jenkins as the credit union’s new President and Chief Executive Officer.
“We are thrilled to have Eric take over the helm at Education Credit Union. He boasts an impressive resume and extensive experience across almost all areas of credit union operations. We are excited about what our organization can achieve under his leadership,” said Chairperson of the Board, Duane Chapman. Chapman also commended outgoing CEO Gregg Bynum for his service to Education Credit Union. “On behalf of the Board, I want to thank Gregg for his leadership and friendship over the past 22 years. We wish him all the best in his well- deserved retirement.”
Jenkins brings with him extensive credit union industry experience, having worked for credit unions of varying asset sizes, as well as credit union service organizations. He comes to Education Credit Union from Georgia United Credit Union, a $1.3 billion credit union in Duluth, Georgia, where he held the role of Chief Deposit Services Officer since 2014. As Chief Deposit Service Officer, Jenkins directed all areas of operations at the credit union, including loan and deposit operations, card services, payment services, and member support services. Prior to his time at Georgia United Credit Union, he served on the executive teams of CU Partner Link for two years, and Georgia Credit Union Affiliates for four years. He previously led $65 million Palmetto Health Credit Union for ten years. Jenkins holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Economics from the University of South Carolina, in Columbia, South Carolina.
