“We originally planned this course for mid-May.”  says Mel Lehman, Executive Director of Workforce Development.  “However, due to the cost of the program, prospective students were struggling to come up with the needed $3,000 to take the course.” says Lehman.

Embark Credit Union realizes the struggle it is to come up with $3,000 for the program, and will begin offering special “Pathway” financing for those pursuing their CDL at Great Falls College MSU.  Embark CEO-Deb Evans cited the credit union’s mission when commenting on creating financing options “The mission of Embark Credit Union is to make a difference in the lives of our members, and our communities. This is a great way to partner with Great Falls College MSU to make that a reality for this group of people.”  “In addition, Embark will provide passing students with an additional $100 towards their licensing requirements if they provide evidence of completion.” says Evans.

CDL classes are scheduled to begin June 8, and run for six weeks.  During these six weeks, classes will begin at 9am and finish daily by 4pm.  The Commercial Driver’s License course will cost approximately $3,000-this cost includes: tuition, fees, books and material.  Course cost does not include drug screening tests, background check, motor vehicle record check, Department of Transportation (DOT) physical, learners permit or TSA hazprint.

To apply: students must be at least 18 years of age, possess a current Montana Driver’s license, provide their motor vehicle record, drug test results and Department of Transportation physical with their application.
