“Every hit is a win with Suncoast Credit Union” partners with the Tampa Bay Rays to give back to the community

TALLAHASSEE, FL (April 20, 2023) — Suncoast Credit Union announces a new partnership program with The Tampa Bay Rays called “Every Hit is a Win with Suncoast,” which is a new initiative to engage Tampa Bay Rays fans and the community.

Every time a Tampa Bay Rays player gets a base hit or a home run during a game, Suncoast will donate $78 in honor of their 78 branches across Florida. They will then collect those donations throughout the month and donate the total amount, up to $15,000 per month, to pre-selected local nonprofit organizations. This new program will launch on May 1st.

Each month three local nonprofit organizations will compete for votes to receive a percentage of the monthly total. The vote percentage for each organization will determine the donation amount that each organization receives. So that everyone truly wins!

“Giving back to the community is part of our DNA at Suncoast Credit Union, and this program allows us to celebrate and recognize the incredible nonprofit organizations throughout Florida,” said Kevin Johnson, President and CEO, Suncoast Credit Union. “We are proud to partner with the Tampa Bay Rays on a project that will help to highlight and reward the nonprofits that make our community a vibrant place for everyone.”

The voting for the program will take place on a Facebook Poll, which will begin on May 1st and is  hosted on the Suncoast Credit Union Facebook page. Anyone who wants to vote for their favorite nonprofit can vote once a month to help determine how much each nonprofit receives.

The first three nonprofits to participate in the competition include:

  • The Children’s Dream Fund, which makes dreams come true for children with life-threatening illnesses living throughout West Central Florida. From puppies to playgrounds, special trips to meetings with celebrities, they help every child referred to them by area hospitals.
  • HEAVENDROPt is a social enterprise of Evergreen Life Services. Since 1959, Evergreen has worked to shatter stereotypes and break down barriers for People with disabilities. Every HEAVENDROPt product represents opportunity and income for not only the people served by Evergreen but by Veterans with disabilities who need support.
  • The Boys and Girls Club of Central Florida has 40 Clubs in 6 counties, and they serve the children who need them the most. Their Clubs are in neighborhoods that, on average, rank at the 12th percentile for household income and the 71st percentile for incarceration rates. By providing Club members with academic support, extracurricular opportunities and positive adult role models, they aim to break the cycle of poverty for future generations.
