Firefly Credit Union® encourages saving among youth and teen members

BURNSVILLE, MN (May 13, 2020) — Firefly celebrated National Credit Union Youth Month in April to help encourage youth and teens to establish smart savings habits. Throughout the month of April, over 200 new youth and teen accounts were opened, including more than 100 new youth memberships and 75 teen checking accounts.

In addition to providing account opening bonuses to members age 17 and under, Firefly members and the community were invited to watch an online education session on personal finance. Families who watched participated in multiple activities that sparked conversations about money and household finances.

“Youth Month is one of our favorite months here at Firefly,” said Dale Turner, President/CEO. “It’s never too early for children to start learning about finances. Despite our lobby closures due to COVID-19, we are glad that we were able to help so many young savers get started on their savings journeys through our online applications, call center, and branch drive-thrus.”
