Food drive ends, school supply drive begins

DEER PARK, TX (June 12, 2015) — Another successful year is in the books for the Furthering Community Unity (FCU) Team’s annual ‘Everyone’s Gotta Eat’ food drive powered by Shell Federal Credit Union. The food drive is annually hosted throughout the month of May to help fill the shelves of local food pantries before the summer months. During the food drive non-perishable food items for people and pets were collected at all nine Shell Federal Credit Union locations.

This year, Shell FCU encouraged employee participation by allowing employees to wear jeans on selected days for donating items. This incentive brought in over 500 donations from Shell FCU staff. With additional help from local schools over 3,000 items were collected. The donations benefited eighteen food pantries and animal shelters throughout Harris County, TX.

The FCU Team would like to extend a special thank you to the faculty and students at the following elementary schools for their partnership and donations.

San Jacinto Elementary, Deer Park, TX
Rizzuto Elementary, La Porte, TX
Mae Smythe Elementary, Pasadena, TX
Jessup Elementary, Houston, TX
Lakeland Elementary, Humble, TX

School supplies and monetary donations will be collected throughout the month of July at all nine Shell FCU locations. The elementary schools who partnered with the FCU Team for the food drive will be the recipients of the collected school supplies. The schools will then distribute the supplies to students in need. Visit any Shell FCU location throughout July to make a donation.
