Forest Area Federal Credit Union makes a difference in 4 local communities

KALKASKA MANTON, FIFE LAKE & KINGSLEY, MI (December 19, 2013) —  Forest Area Federal Credit Union spent a month raising money for the local food pantries in the communities that their branches serve. These communities include:  Kalkaska, Fife Lake, Manton and Kingsley.  The Board of Directors of Forest Area Federal Credit Union authorized a Forest Area FCU dollar for dollar matching donation of the funds raised through member and staff donations this year in support of the efforts of their staff to make a difference in their communities giving a grand total raised this year, with the matching funds, of $8358.12.

“The generosity of our credit union members, local businesses, staff and Board of Directors never ceases to amaze me!  Truly our communities live and breathe the credit union philosophy of People Helping People! What a joy and privilege it is to be an instrument in organizing such a great effort to help feed those who are having a difficult time this year!” said Lisa Bandlow, Human Resources Director for Forest Area Federal Credit Union.  CEO Robert Raden says this about the fundraiser: ‘Our staff really stepped up knowing that our communities need major help filling the food pantries this year, and once they heard that the Board was matching dollar for dollar the effort redoubled. I couldn’t be prouder of our staff, our thoughtful members and of our generous Board of Directors.’
The food pantries which will be receiving the funds raised this year include Family Care Network, Free Methodist Gleaners,  St. Theresa’s Catholic Pantry and Colfax Community food pantry in the Manton area, the Methodist Church of Kingsley food pantry, KAIR Food Pantry of Kalkaska and the Fife Lake Food Pantry in Fife Lake.
