Former Great Lakes Credit Union President/CEO passes away

NORTH CHICAGO, IL (November 21, 2013) — Raymond Tesdahl, former President/CEO of Great Lakes Credit Union (GLCU) passed away peacefully at his home in Arizona on November 4, 2013.

Mr. Tesdahl retired in 1988 after 32 years of service to GLCU.  Ray was also a founding father of the Defense Credit Union Council in 1963 and was well known throughout the credit union industry.  Under Ray’s guidance GLCU grew in assets from $5 million to $160 million.  In addition Ray oversaw the building of GLCU’s administrative headquarters in North Chicago which is still used as such today.

In honor of his memory GLCU will award a special one-time scholarship in Ray’s name in 2014.

Ray is survived by his wife Joyce, two sons, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Great Lakes Credit Union has served the Chicagoland area for over 75 years. Currently GLCU has assets of $650 million and serves over 56,000 members in Lake, McHenry, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Will and parts of Cook Counties in Illinois, plus Kenosha County Wisconsin.
