FORUM Credit Union announces youth entrepreneurial contest winner

Indianapolis IN (August, 26, 2014) — FORUM Credit Union is pleased to announce the winner of its annual youth entrepreneurial contest.  The contest is part of FORUM’s Bright Start Program, which promotes early entrepreneurial skills for kids and teens.

The contest allowed youth ages 8-19, with the help of an adult, to submit a picture or video that represents their business.  The submissions were then entered into a random drawing that awarded one winner with a grand prize of $100. This year’s winner, Katherine, is the owner and operator of seasonal hot chocolate and lemonade stands.  Her business(es), Katie’s Hot Chocolate Stand and Katie’s Lemonade Stand, are in her neighborhood and nearby tradeshows that her father participates in.  Eleven-year-old Katharine says she “has high hopes and dreams for her future in business.”
This year’s submissions told inspirational stories of entrepreneurship through the eyes of kids and teens as they work to make the community a better place with their service.  Submissions also included entrepreneurs who teach others how to speak Spanish, assist neighbors with yard work, and have developed an app to combat bullying in schools.
