FORUM Credit Union offers financial literacy through SaveItUp program

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (February 10, 2014) — FORUM Credit Union awarded more than $5,000 to members who participated in its SaveItUp program in 2013.  The program, which started in 2009, was created to encourage better spending and saving habits and to promote financial wellness.

More than 250 FORUM members participated in the 2013 program.  Participants were entered to win prizes by enrolling in the program and completing steps from various financial categories.  FORUM awarded three quarterly prizes of $250 and three grand prizes. Grand prize winners included Colin, winner of $1,000; Sherry, winner of $1,500; and Tonya, winner of $2,000.  “The program gave me a lot of tools that made it easy to make a budget,” said Sherry.  “It helped me reduce debt and create better financial behavioral habits.”

FORUM Credit Union will continue to offer SaveItUp this year. Past participants are automatically enrolled into the program each year. They and new participants will have the opportunity to win quarterly and annual prizes based on the amount of financial steps they complete.  FORUM has outlined more than 30 steps that can help members reduce debt, save for a purpose, reduce spending, and get financially fit.

In the spirit of financial fitness, FORUM will also offer Dave Ramsey’s CORE Financial Wellness course to members and local businesses.  Dave Ramsey, a money management expert and popular radio personality, created CORE Financial Wellness to teach others how to be financially aware and responsible.  More information regarding SaveItUp and CORE Financial Wellness is available at www.forumcu.com/saveitup.
