Free lunch from partner Colorado Credit Union to celebrate International Credit Union Day

ARVADA, CO (October 14, 2014) — On Thursday, October 16, Partner Colorado Credit Union is organizing cash mobs at two Denver area restaurants—Chubby’s Burger Drive Inn (1231 W. 38th Ave.) and Viva Burrito (7550 Pecos St.). The cash mobs are part of the credit union’s International Credit Union Day festivities. Partner Colorado representatives will buy lunch, ($10 per person), for the first 250 patrons at each location between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., (or until funds run out). In addition to giving out a total of $5,000 in lunch money, the credit union will also treat cash mob attendees to giveaways.

“Cash mobs are designed to bring people together to support small businesses and fuel the economy,” said Sundie Seefried, president and CEO of PCCU. “Cash mobs are a natural fit for credit unions, which were founded on the concept of people helping people. This is a fun way for Partner Colorado to give back to our community, as well as bring awareness to International Credit Union Day and the 208 million credit union members in 103 countries worldwide.”

Since 1948, International Credit Union Day has been celebrated annually on the third Thursday of October. Each year, the international event affords the opportunity to remember credit unions’ proud history and promote awareness of and support for the credit union difference. This year’s theme, “Local Service. Global Good.TM,” emphasizes credit unions’ positive impact in their communities and around the world.

Credit unions are recognized as a force for positive economic and social change and have provided significant value in both developed and emerging nations. International Credit Union Day is sponsored by World Council of Credit Unions, the international trade association and development agency for credit unions, as well as numerous national credit union trade associations and federations around the world.
