Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s Examination and Enforcement Priorities

(April 10, 2015) — The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) has become more active in terms of supervision and enforcement in a variety of areas since its creation following the financial crisis. In fact, there has been several high-profile enforcement actions, which underscore the risks associated with relevant regulations.

LexisNexis® Sheshunoff™ Webinars, a provider of comprehensive compliance programs, will offer a free webinar on CFPB’s examination and enforcement priorities on April 28 at noon. During this 90-minute session, host John Beccia will provide an overview of this rapidly evolving landscape and offer tips on what areas to watch out for in 2015 and beyond. The session will also examine consumer financial product areas and include student loans, mortgage servicing, consumer credit and lending, small dollar lending, consumer reporting, money transmission, virtual currency, prepaid cards and debt collection.

Webinar attendees will leave better prepared to navigate the CFPB’s priorities, analyze pending and proposed rulemakings related to mortgage, loans, debt collection and prepaid accounts and equipped for non-bank supervision and examinations. Attendees present during the entire webinar and who complete a survey will receive a certificate for one continuing education credit.

Host John Beccia is general counsel and CCO of Circle Internet Financial, Inc., and is responsible for all corporate law matters including the oversight of AML, privacy and compliance programs. He also served as chief regulatory counsel and research director for the Financial Services Roundtable in Washington, D.C. where he was responsible for all regulatory affairs and assisted with the Roundtable’s legislative efforts.
