Freedom Awards $8,000 in Merit Scholarships to Local Students

WARMINSTER, PA (September 3, 2013) — Freedom Credit Union recently awarded $2,000 scholarships to four graduating high school and undergraduate college students, to use in furthering their educations. To qualify, applicants had to be Members of Freedom Credit Union, and had to submit a copy of their most recent academic transcripts as well as an original, 500-word essay on a pre-selected topic. Scholarship winners will be featured in the October edition of Freedom’s newsletter, Financial Focus.

This year’s winners are:

–      Noah Earland of Oreland, PA, who will attend Southern Methodist University, majoring in Applied Physiology with a minor in Medical Anthropology.
–      Sarah Pellecchia of Philadelphia, PA who will attend Drexel University as an Environmental Science major.
–      Raina Stewart of Philadelphia, PA who will attend Hampton University with an undecided major.
–      Lindsay Vitale of New York, NY, who attends Pace University, majoring in Theater – Dance Track, and Screen Studies.

As a financial institution originally founded to serve teachers and employees of the School District of Philadelphia, Freedom is committed to the value of education, and to helping make post-secondary schooling possible for Members of the Credit Union. Additionally, Freedom provides financial services to students at several Philadelphia-area educational institutions, including Community College of Philadelphia, Gratz College, and Thomas Jefferson University.
