CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI (July 28, 2025) |

FreeStar Financial Credit Union is proud to announce that Raymond White Jr., Chairman of the Board, has been selected for induction into the Defense Credit Union Council (DCUC) Hall of Honor, one of the highest recognitions in the defense credit union movement.

This national honor is awarded annually to individuals who have made exceptional contributions to military communities through credit union service and leadership. The DCUC Hall of Honor recognizes the long-standing commitment of individuals who exemplify the values of service, integrity, and dedication to the defense credit union mission. Raymond White Jr. joins a distinguished group of inductees who have shaped the way financial institutions support and uplift military families at all base-founded credit unions around the world.

White will be formally inducted during the DCUC Hall of Honor Ceremony at the DCUC Annual Conference, held July 28, 2025, through August 1, 2025, in Palm Desert, California. He is honored for his exceptional service to credit unions and his unwavering advocacy for Selfridge Air National Guard Base (ANGB), located in Harrison Township, Michigan, and Michigan’s military community.

White’s Career

With 34 years of service in the United States Air Force Reserve, Chief Master Sergeant (Ret.) White brings a deeply personal understanding of the challenges and sacrifices made by military personnel and their families. His enduring connection to Selfridge ANGB, a critical joint Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security installation, has influenced much of his work at FreeStar Financial Credit Union, which maintains a committed legacy of serving those who serve our country.

Under White’s leadership as Board Chairperson, FreeStar Financial has expanded its reach and impact throughout Michigan. He has overseen multiple successful mergers, guided the credit union through a statewide charter expansion, and overseen the construction of new, strategically located branches to increase community access. His vision has helped ensure that FreeStar Financial remains a strong, financially secure, and service-oriented financial institution.

In recognition of his service, White has received additional honors in recent years, including:

  • 2023 Michigan Credit Union League (MCUL) Board Member of the Year
  • Macomb County Volunteer of the Year for the 8th District

FreeStar Financial is honored to have Raymond White Jr. represent the financial institution on the international stage. His leadership continues to inspire their team and membership as they work together to build stronger financial futures for all, especially those who have served.
