CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI (September 3, 2025) |
FreeStar Financial Foundation is proud to announce the success of its first “Charity Bowling" event, hosted at Shore Lanes in St. Clair Shores. This memorable evening raised $10,000 in donations, supporting two remarkable community and military organizations: CARE of Southeastern Michigan and The Fallen and Wounded Soldiers Fund.
CARE of Southeastern Michigan is a nonprofit organization committed to the well-being of children providing support for children of families that are facing substance abuse and other unhealthy situations. They offer a holistic, family-centered approach to addressing the root causes of a child's difficulties, improving long-term outcomes for children, and reducing the cycle of substance abuse in families. Four different camps are offered during the year concentrating on how to communicate, manage emotions, and self-control while combining this with fun activities.
The Fallen and Wounded Soldiers Fund is an all-volunteer organization and are dedicated to supporting military veterans, with a focus on transitioning to civilian life. They offer holistic care that includes housing and transportation assistance, living expenses, group therapy and mental health support.
A Night of Fun and Community Spirit
The Charity Bowling event brought together community members for an evening of nine-pin no-tap bowling, raffle prizes, pizza, and laughter. The Foundation’s dedicated team worked weeks in advance to secure sponsorships from local businesses for all elements of this event including bowling lanes, lots of raffle baskets valued at $100 each, and a Cooler of Cheer raffle. Tickets were advertised through FreeStar Financial Credit Union’s eight branches, on their website, and on their social media. By the day of the event, they hit their goal of two hundred bowlers for the cause. Participants showed off their bowling skills while guests cheered them on, creating an atmosphere of joy and camaraderie—all for a noble cause.
“It is always humbling to witness our community come together with such enthusiasm and generosity to support those in need,” said Vicki McIntosh, FreeStar Financial Foundation board member. “This event goes beyond banking—it's about fostering a sense of belonging, building connections, and making a meaningful difference in the lives of at-risk children and our nation’s heroes.”
Making an Immediate Impact
As a result of the event’s success, the Foundation presented $5,000 checks to each of the benefiting organizations.
Looking Ahead
Following the tremendous success of our events, FreeStar Financial Foundation is already planning some bigger charity events for next year. Vicki McIntosh added, “We’re excited to continue this journey, build momentum, and create even more impactful and unforgettable events,” said McIntosh.
