Genisys rewards student for financial education video

ROSEVILLE, MN (November 6, 2014) — Genisys Credit Union is committed to rewarding those who make a difference in their communities. Recently, Genisys Credit Union awarded University of St. Thomas student, Austin Otto, with a thousand dollar Students Making a Difference Scholarship.

Students who are friends with the Genisys Credit Union Facebook page were asked to submit a video on what financial savings meant to them and why it is important for the future. Friends of the Genisys Credit Union Facebook page were asked to vote for the student who they felt deserved the Making a Difference Scholarship. After two rounds of voting, Otto was selected as the winner.

“Financial education is a very important topic for our youth to understand,” said Jackie Buchanan President/CEO, “All of the submissions for this scholarship were very impressive.”
Otto is currently pursuing an engineering degree at the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota. He has developed his interest in manufacturing and materials engineering. Otto continues to explore the options available with 3D printing and the effects it has on the future of manufacturing.
