Georgia United Credit Union launches the Georgia United Foundation

Credit Union and Foundation partner to donate supplies to local charities

Georgia United Credit Union is pleased to announce the formation of the Georgia United Credit Union Foundation – a charitable nonprofit organization supporting the credit union’s commitment to improving the quality of life of children and families through impactful programs across the state. Funding will be provided through the Foundation and community projects will be delivered through the efforts of Georgia United Credit Union team members and community partners.

Georgia United Credit Union’s President and CEO, Debbie Smith, stated, “The Georgia United Foundation takes great pride in being active in our local communities and believes that giving back is not only the right way – but the only way.” The Foundation will help the credit union to expand their community service initiatives and provide an improved way for donor partners and volunteers to participate in the community initiatives.

Most recently, the Georgia United Foundation funded 1,200 backpacks of supplies that were assembled by 360 Georgia United team members at their annual team day held at the Classic Center in Athens on Sunday, February 17, 2019.  Assembled backpacks will benefit camp participants at Extra Special People (ESP) of Watkinsville and Camp Sunshine of Rutledge, and hygiene and snack backpacks will benefit individuals at the Gateway Center of Atlanta.

Rebecca Cranford, Director of Community Engagement at the Gateway Center, stated, “On behalf of the Gateway’s staff and clients, we are so thankful for Georgia United’s support and partnership. The delivery of snack and hygiene kit bags today will make someone’s day brighter – and a little less heavy.”
