The GLCU Foundation for Financial Empowerment is proud to share that it made a significant impact through its community outreach and housing and financial counseling programs in 2024.
Last year, the GLCU Foundation provided housing and financial counseling to more than 1,000 individuals and families, volunteered more than 4,300 hours in the community, and gave more than $200,000 to local communities.
Additionally, the GLCU Foundation’s HUD-certified housing and financial counselors helped save $7.9 million in community assets via foreclosure intervention counseling. It also awarded seven scholarships to young people attending college or trade school this spring and supported its partners who provide essential resources such as food pantries and workforce development programs.
2024 marked a number of firsts for the GLCU Foundation as well, including the launch of its inaugural fundraising dinner, participating in Giving Tuesday, and partnering with the National Credit Union Foundation’s CUAid Disaster Relief Campaign to support communities affected by hurricanes in 2024.
“Witnessing the transformative impact of our programs on the low to moderate-income individuals and families who need our services the most is deeply rewarding,” said Matthew Rizzie, Executive Director of the GLCU Foundation for Financial Empowerment. “We are committed to building upon this momentum by expanding our youth education programs and our footprint to make first-time homebuyer education available for the community in both Illinois and Indiana.”
