Global awards community service volunteers

SPOKANE, WA (February 21, 2014) — On Monday, February 17 Global Credit Union presented Sharon Carter, Camp Darby Branch Manager, with the second annual La Liberte Community Excellence Award. The award is named in honor of one of Global’s original founders who passed away in 2011. Eugene La Liberte dedicated much of his life to community service. All employees who participate in the credit union’s community service program are eligible for the award.

Sharon, pictured in pink, donated over 85 hours in 2013 to several different causes. Some of these include: Girl Scouts, Thanksgiving for soldiers, Darby Community Youth Ministry, Single Soldier Airman Dinner, Run to the Tower, visits to retiree military nursing home, and many more. In addition to a personal desk trophy and serving on next year’s selection committee, Sharon’s charity of choice will receive a donation in the amount of $500.

Global Credit Union has a long tradition of community involvement, receiving accolades for its efforts in every region it serves. Recognizing that it’s the individuals who put in much of their own time, Global’s Community Service Program recognizes those employees who make significant contributions. Awards to celebrate these individuals were distributed at Global’s annual Employee Conference on February 17, 2014.

The program honors employees who have volunteered a substantial number of personal hours throughout the year. Employees earn 10 points per hour of volunteer service, plus 25 bonus points when participating in a credit union sponsored charitable event.
