Golden 1 Credit Union celebrates new branch in San Francisco

SACRAMENTO, CA (September 5, 2018) — Today Golden 1 Credit Union (Golden 1) celebrated the opening of its newest branch, located on UC San Francisco’s Mission Bay campus. The event included a ribbon cutting ceremony with the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce, remarks from Golden 1 President and CEO Donna Bland, and a pop-up park with prizes and refreshments at the Mission Bay Farmers’ Market.

The new branch is another step in Golden 1’s growth in the Golden State. The credit union has nearly 1 million members, more than 70 branches, and recently expanded its charter to cover the whole state. Anyone who lives or works in California can now become a member. Golden 1 offers checking and savings accounts, home loans, auto loans, credit cards, and other financial services. As a not-for-profit financial institution, Golden 1 demonstrates the credit union difference with low-to-no fees, better rates on savings and loans, friendly and knowledgeable employees, and member-focused service.

“As we grow throughout California, our goal is to offer convenience and exceptional service to our members,” said Donna Bland, President and CEO. “This new location in the heart of the up-and-coming Mission Bay district gives us the chance to demonstrate the credit union difference to UCSF employees, students, and the community surrounding the branch.”

Golden 1 is the main financial institution serving UCSF employees. The team at the Mission Bay branch is already joining the local community by participating in events like the Farmers’ Market and the UCSF Block Party, and UCSF student and employee informational sessions.

“Everyone at UCSF, from the employees, to the students, to the chancellor’s office, have been fantastic partners as we expand in to Mission Bay. This location offers great visibility on a busy street in a vibrant neighborhood,” said Vice President of Branch Channel Delivery Michael Popp. “We look forward to helping UCSF students, employees, and everyone in the community make their financial dreams come true.”

Golden 1 serves more than 100,000 members in the Bay Area. In addition to the Mission Bay Branch, the credit union has two more branches in San Francisco, and eight more throughout the Bay Area. Golden 1 members have access to 24/7 online and mobile banking, more than 240 Golden 1 ATMs in California, and more than 30,000 CO-OP ATMs nationwide.

The Mission Bay Branch is located at 1560 3rd Street, San Francisco, CA. Branch hours are Monday through Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Friday 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. A 24-hour ATM is located around the corner on Gene Friend Way.
