Hanscom FCU Awards Scholarships to Seven Local Students

HANSCOM AFB, MA (May 4, 2023) — Hanscom Federal Credit Union awarded seven graduating high school seniors – five credit union members and two students from local US Air Force Junior ROTC units – with scholarships of $1,500 each to assist with college expenses. The scholarship recipients were announced at the credit union’s 69th Annual Meeting on May 3, 2023.

The John F. Condon Scholarship is named after a former Hanscom FCU board member who made a significant contribution to the credit union’s success during his 26 years of volunteerism. The award is based on academic record, extracurricular activities, and an essay.

“We congratulate these seven outstanding students on their accomplishments during their high school careers,” said Lawrence Rzepecki, Hanscom FCU Board Member and chairman of the Condon Scholarship committee. “As they take the next step in their educational journey, we hope that these scholarships will help them reach their goals for the future.”

This year’s member recipients are Théodore Bradley of Harvard, MA; Sean DiMattio of Whitman, MA; Colleen Schubmehl of Ashburnham, MA; Emmalyn Shmulsky of Reading, MA; and Sarah Tonini of Bedford, MA. The top graduates of the Lowell High School and Bedford/Billerica High School Air Force JROTC programs, Cadet Colonel Nicole Tang of Lowell and Cadet Commander Aliyah Valverde of Billerica, respectively, also received scholarships.
