Hanscom FCU donates blankets for annual drive

HANSCOM AFB, MA (February 21, 2020) — For the tenth consecutive year, Hanscom Federal Credit Union participated in the Cooperative Credit Union Association’s (CCUA) annual Gift of Warmth blanket drive to benefit the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless.

The credit union collected a total of 148 blankets to donate to families receiving a bed through the A Bed for Every Child initiative, ensuring that every child has a warm, comfortable bed to get a peaceful night’s sleep. Additionally, a total of 78 hats that were sewn, knitted, and crocheted by Hanscom FCU employees were donated to the Coalition to help supplement warm winter clothing for children in need.

“Providing children with something as simple as a warm bed to sleep in isn’t about comfort, it’s about giving them a sense of safety and security, especially through these cold months,” said Ray Phillips, Hanscom FCU’s Chairman of the Board. “We’re so passionate about supporting the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless’ A Bed for Every Child initiative and this blanket and clothing drive because we want these children and families to know that there are people out there who truly care about their well-being and are doing what they can to help.”
