Food donations accepted at all Oahu branches through April 12

HONOLULU, HI (March 5, 2019)Hawaii State Federal Credit Union (Hawaii State FCU), Hawaii’s largest credit union lender with more than 106,000 members on Oahu and Maui, has donated $10,000 to the Hawaii Foodbank as the credit union kicks off its food drive to support the nonprofit’s 30th Annual Food Drive. Hawaii State FCU is accepting food donations at all eight branch locations on Oahu from March 4 to April 12.

“Hawaii State FCU is proud to support the Hawaii Foodbank and their efforts to ensure that no keiki, kupuna or family goes hungry,” says Andrew Rosen, president and CEO of Hawaii State FCU. “And as chairman of the Hawaii Credit Union League, I’m grateful to be working alongside other like-minded credit unions that will also be encouraging food donations from their employees and members as part of our credit union coalition.”

Hawaii State FCU held a food drive kickoff event at its Main Branch on March 4, where more than 300 of its employees were encouraged to donate canned goods. With a food collection goal set at one ton, or 2,000 pounds, all eight Hawaii State FCU branch locations on Oahu will serve as food collection sites through April 12.

“We are thankful to Hawaii State FCU for their generous donation and support of our annual food drive,” said Ron Mizutani, president and CEO of Hawaii Foodbank. “Due to the recent government shutdown which resulted in an unprecedented need for food assistance, we are working hard to replenish our supply. We encourage everyone to donate what they can.”
