Heritage FCU celebrates kids and teens during National Credit Union Youth Month

NEWBURGH, IN (April 9, 2015) — April is National Credit Union Youth Month at Heritage Federal Credit Union. All month long the credit union is celebrating youth and promoting financial literacy to kids and teens by encouraging them to set up savings accounts and learn how to manage money.

This year’s theme for Youth Month, “Wild About Saving™,” shows youth how Heritage Federal Credit Union can help them meet financial goals. In celebration, the credit union is having a National Youth Savings Challenge sponsored by CUNA (Credit Union National Association) where every deposit made into any child’s account (ages 18 and under) will create an entry into a drawing for a $100 reward.

In addition, to help celebrate Youth Month, youth members can pick-up Wild About Saving worksheets at any Heritage Federal Credit Union branch or at the HFCU Booth at the Heritage Home Show on April 11th & 12th. Upon completion of a worksheet, youth members can bring their completed worksheets into any Heritage Federal Credit Union branch to redeem for a prize and to be entered to win even more fun prizes.

Prizes that will be given away during Youth Month are:

  • One-Year Family Membership to Mesker Park Zoo
  • One-year Family Membership to cMOE
  • Movie Ticket 4-Pack
  • Safari Binoculars

Post and share with your child for #CUYouthMonth! Also during the month of April, if you post a #HFCUselfie of you and your child with the last thing your child saved his/her money to buy you will be entered to win a $150 deposit in your child’s Heritage FCU #savings account! If you do not have a Heritage Federal savings account, we will open one for you.

Youth members can also visit Kirby Kangaroo at the Heritage Federal Credit Union Home Show booth on April 11th & 12th from 1pm-3pm.

“We’re very excited about celebrating Youth Month at Heritage Federal Credit Union,” Ruth Jenkins, CCE, President and CEO of the credit union stated. “By teaching kids how to save for their goals, we are encouraging them to become consistent savers. Youth Month is a perfect time of year for parents and guardians to educate their children about saving. Our goal is to make saving fun for kids so that it becomes a lifetime habit.”
