Heritage Trust provides support for victims of residential fire

(August 12, 2014) — Heritage Trust FCU was recently honored for their donation of $1,250 in support of the American Red Cross Heroes for Fire Victims campaign. This donation provided assistance to a North Charleston family of three, including one child, after a fire spread quickly through their home.

The American Red Cross uses these donations to provide support to victims of residential fires once fires have been reported. Red Cross volunteers meet with victims on the scene and provide not only temporary housing and funds for food, clothing and medication, but also offer comfort, guidance and hope. The Red Cross also provides medical and counseling services as part of their outreach program.1 Throughout 2013, the American Red Cross Lowcountry Chapter provided assistance to 1,095 victims in the Lowcountry.

In a letter to Heritage Trust, Paul J. Heinauer, Honorary Chair of “Heroes for Fire Victims” commended the credit union for “making such a difference” in the community.

“At Heritage Trust, the credit union philosophy, “People Helping People” is a part of how we strive to do business,” commented Heritage Trust CEO, Jim McDaniel. “We are committed to supporting members of our community through initiatives like ‘Heroes for Fire Victims.”
