HFS Federal Credit Union offers financial education at your fingertips with Zogo

HILO, HI (February 10, 2021)

HFS Federal Credit Union is now offering the Zogo app to our Big Island community. The app, which was developed by a group of Duke University students, guides users through 300+ bite-sized financial education modules in 20 different topics, from opening a bank account to saving for retirement – and everything in between. Also, all of Zogo’s content meets the national standards for financial literacy! As users successfully answer questions, they accumulate points that they can redeem for gift cards. It pays to learn about finance – literally.

“We loved that Zogo combines a digital approach with insights from Duke University behavioral scientists to actually engage users, including teens and adults,” said Ashley Yamamoto, HFS FCU Marketing Coordinator. “Growing up, we didn’t have good experiences learning about personal finance,” added Bolun Li, CEO and co-founder of Zogo. “With Zogo, we wanted to create a financial education experience our peers would actually use. We are excited to work with HFS Federal Credit Union to bring this vision to life.”

84% of teens say they look to their parents for information about money, according to a study by Junior Achievement. However, parents often feel unprepared to play this role. In a survey by EVERFI, only 43% of parents felt they were “well prepared” for money conversations. As an alternative, T. Rowe Price reports that 3 out of 4 parents think financial apps are a good way to teach about financial matters.

Starting now through March 1, 2021 HFS FCU invites our community to download the Zogo app using the access code HFSFCU and create an account to be entered for your chance to win 20,000 pineapple points. Points can be used in the app to redeem for $20 in gift cards! Visit hfsfcu.org for details and sweepstakes official rules. The Zogo app is now available at no cost in both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

Keiki and adults alike can take advantage of this convenient resource to expand their knowledge, and get rewarded for it! For more details on Zogo, the financial literacy app, visit hfsfcu.org or call (808) 930-1400.
