Home of Guiding Hands honors San Diego County Credit Union at 40th annual Gala
SDCCU sponsored the gala to support programs for San Diegans with developmental and intellectual disabilities
SAN DIEGO, CA (June 16, 2014) — San Diego County Credit Union® (SDCCU®), San Diego’s largest locally-owned financial institution, was proud to once again sponsor the Home of Guiding Hands (HGH) Gala, a fundraiser that generated more than $150,000 in donations for infants, adolescents and adults in San Diego with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Held June 6 at the Hotel Del Coronado, the 400 guests at the Gala enjoyed dinner and dancing, along with a silent auction and a live auction with Sean Kelly, auctioneer seen on TruTV’s “Storage Hunters” show. This year marked the 40th anniversary of the HGH Gala and to help celebrate the momentous occasion, the organization honored longtime partners, including SDCCU, for their years of service, dedication and contributions to HGH.
“We applaud Home of Guiding Hands for their dedication to maximizing the independence, productivity and quality of life for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities,” said SDCCU President and CEO Teresa Halleck.
SDCCU’s relationship with HGH extends more than 15 years. The non-profit organization was founded in 1961 and provides services, training and advocacy for people with developmental disabilities. Support is provided to individuals living independently in their own homes, along with residents of 31 community-based homes in El Cajon, Lakeside, San Carlos and Santee. HGH also operates a respite program that gives family members a much-needed break, a life planning program that assists families with the process of developing a care plan for the future and an early childhood program, along with transportation services and counseling and family support services.
The Home of Guiding Hands Gala is just one of the more than 75 non-profit organizations and community events supported annually by SDCCU.
