Honor Credit Union recognized as Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service Award Honorable Mention
ST. JOSEPH, MI (June 11, 2014) — Honor Credit Union is excited to have received an honorable mention from the Michigan Credit Union League (MCUL) Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service Award in recognition of the creation of their charity fund, Powered By Honor. The Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service Award recognizes credit unions that exemplify social responsibility through work or charitable projects that support the community.
Celebrating its first full year in 2013, Powered By Honor was created to allow for regionally focused community support through donation and volunteer efforts. Managed by a volunteer Board of Directors comprised of Honor team members, Powered By Honor is funded largely through the donations of Honor employees. With a goal to enhance the lives of the individuals in the communities Honor Credit Union serves by providing positive, long lasting impact through financial support and volunteer efforts, Powered By Honor was able to donate over $35,000 in the form of non-profit organization donations and student scholarships in 2013. With half of 2014 still to come, Powered By Honor has already donated over $28,000 to local community non profit organizations. With exciting plans for the rest of the year, including the 2014 Inaugural ‘Fore’ Your Community golf scramble presented by Powered By Honor, this year is on track to be another success for Powered By Honor.
Honor Credit Union is proud to serve more than 51,000 members across the State of Michigan. Providing solutions for financial success and giving back to the communities they serve remain the driving forces behind Honor Credit Union. For more information call 800.442.2800, or visit www.honorcu.com
