Hopewell Federal Credit Union awards scholarship to local graduate

Abigayle Barker of Granville Awarded for Outstanding Essay and Academic Achievement

HEATH/NEWARK, OH (June 26, 2015) — Hopewell Federal Credit Union announced the winner of its $1000 scholarship.  This distinguished honor was awarded to Abigayle Paige Barker.  Abigayle, a recent graduate from Granville High School, will depart in the fall to attend Elon University in North Carolina.  This advanced athlete, who recently led her high school softball team to the state championship, will be playing collegiate level softball.

Barker excels both academically and personally and has created a strong presence in the community.  Below are just a few of her accolades.

  • She is active – An athlete involved with volleyball, basketball and softball.
  • She is a leader – President of the Varsity G Club, Member of Key Club and Student Assistant Varsity Basketball Coach.
  • She is a volunteer – Working with children at the Granville Recreation Commission.
  • She is intelligent – A member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society and Global Scholars Society
