WASHINGTON, DC (September 5, 2014) -- On May 28, 2014, Hoya Federal Credit Union held its annual meeting and celebrated its 50th anniversary. From the time it was founded in 1964, Hoya Federal Credit Union has provided a way for Georgetown University and Georgetown University Hospital employees to demonstrate solidarity with each other as a community. By providing low-cost financial services as well as financial education through counseling, it has sought to foster their financial wellbeing.
Join in the Celebration!
Hoya FCU members and nonmembers alike are invited to an open house on Thursday, October 16, from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., to commemorate International Credit Union Day. Light refreshments will be served and 50th anniversary travel mugs given away while supplies last. Stop by the credit union’s office on campus.
The Celebration Continues
In June credit unions nationwide reached a milestone: over 100 million members. That number reflects consumers’ increasing dissatisfaction with financial institutions that put profits over people. With nearly 4,000 members of its own and almost $20 million in assets, the not-for-profit Hoya Federal Credit Union is a living and vibrant example of the credit union tradition of “people helping people.” It plans to continue that tradition by adding new services that will offer its growing membership greater account access and new saving and borrowing options.
Located in Washington, DC, Hoya Federal Credit Union is a member-owned, not-for-profit, financial institution, serving Georgetown University and the Georgetown University Hospital. Since 1964 it has been helping members manage their money and achieve their financial goals. For more information, please visit www.hoyafederal.org.
