Illinois Credit Union League announces 2025 award winners

 The Illinois Credit Union League (ICUL) is proud to announce the winners of its 2025 awards program. These prestigious awards recognize outstanding individuals whose contributions have advanced the credit union movement across Illinois. From dedicated volunteers and employees to visionary leaders and lifetime advocates, the 2025 honorees exemplify the values of service, leadership, and community. 

Spirit of Service: Volunteer of the Year 

This award celebrates an individual who volunteers their time and talents to support their credit  union and community, truly embodying the credit union philosophy of "people helping people." Eva Maria Watts, St. Helena Parish Credit Union 

Spirit of Service: Employee of the Year 

Awarded to a credit union employee who consistently goes above and beyond to serve members,  lead by example, and promote a culture of service. 

  • Kim Alongi, DuPage Credit Union 

Hall of Fame: Leadership Award 

This honor recognizes individuals with distinguished careers in the credit union industry who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, vision, and service. 

  • Lloyd Fredendall, NuMark Credit Union 
  • Karen Jurasek, Generations Credit Union 

Hall of Fame: Lifetime Achievement Award 

Awarded to individuals who have made a lasting impact on the credit union movement through decades of service, advocacy, and leadership at the local and state level. 

  • John Swick, Area Educational Credit Union 
  • Ted Wordaw, Cosmopolitan Federal Credit Union 

Small Credit Union Award 

This award recognizes a leader of a credit union with under $50 million in assets who has shown extraordinary commitment to serving members, strengthening their organization, and supporting the credit union community. 

  • Mark Lenaway, Northern Illinois Federal Credit Union 

“These award winners represent the heart of the credit union movement,” said Libby Calderone,  President/CEO of the Illinois Credit Union League. “Their passion, commitment, and impact are felt not only in their credit unions but throughout the communities they serve. It’s a privilege to  recognize their accomplishments.”
