Indiana Members Foundation awards $10,000 in grants

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (September 16, 2014) — Indiana Members Foundation, the charitable arm of Indiana Members Credit Union, recently awarded $10,000 in grants through its Joan Wolfe Legacy Grant Program to four organizations. Joan Wolfe worked for Indiana Members Credit Union for 27 years and was a huge supporter of Indiana Members Foundation’s mission to provide school children with the necessities essential for learning and succeeding in their education. Joan lost her fight with Cancer in March of 2013, but her fight to help children succeed continues with the Joan Wolfe Legacy Grant Program.

The purpose of the Joan Wolfe Legacy Grant Program is to assist schools and community organizations that help children to achieve success in learning. The 2014 grants were awarded to the following organizations:

  • Central Elementary School, Voyager Passport Reading Program,

Beech Grove, IN- $2,500

  • Jameson Camp, Indianapolis, IN- $2,500
  • Youth Connections, Franklin, IN- $2,500
  • La Plaza, Tu Futuro (Your Future) Program, Indianapolis, IN- $2,500

“We are excited to be able to offer grants to non-profit organizations in the communities in which we serve that provide school children with the necessary tools and leadership to succeed not only in their education but also with life skills,” stated Mandy Emery, vice president of community involvement at Indiana Members Credit Union. “Joan Wolfe was a valuable employee who was dedicated to giving back to underserved children and we are honored to support this effort.”

The funding for the grants comes from the Foundations fundraising efforts. Applications are accepted and reviewed April 15 – June 1 and awarded the 2nd Friday in July.
