GRAND RAPIDS, MI – November 26, 2012 - The Internet Archive Federal Credit Union (IAFCU) announced the grand opening of its New Brunswick branch with a ribbon-cutting ceremony that was held on Friday, November 16. The special day was highlighted by the attendance of the Consul General of Mexico in New York City, Señor Carlos M. Sada. Señor Sada not only cut the ribbon to welcome all to the now open Internet Archive FCU, but gave a speech in both Spanish and English on the need for low income-designated credit unions like IAFCU to serve the large Mexican community in New Brunswick and Highland Park.
Also in attendance to welcome the credit union to the community was Brewster Kahle, the founder of the Internet Archive, the credit union’s sponsor organization, Teresa Vivar, president of Lazos Unida, Donna LoStocco, EVP of Affinity Credit Union, and Shirley Spruil, CEO of Renaissance Credit Union. Jordan Modell, CEO of the IAFCU said, “We are so proud that so many community and credit union leaders we able to attend. This shows not only the need for a low income-designated credit union, but that the spirit of cooperation among credit unions is alive and well.”
