Iowa Credit Union League to host Bi-Partisan First Congressional District forum

DES MOINES, IA (February 12, 2014) — The Iowa Credit Union League (ICUL) announced today that it will hold a bi-partisan candidate forum for Republican and Democratic candidates seeking their party’s First Congressional District nominations. The forum will be moderated by Dean Borg, “Iowa Press” host and one of Iowa’s most respected political journalists.

The First Congressional District Forum will be held on February 18, from 10:30 a.m. – Noon at the Embassy Suites Downtown in Des Moines and will be streamed live at http://bit.ly/1cvVvkr. Live streaming begins at 10:25 a.m. More than 100 Iowa credit union leaders are expected to attend to learn more about the candidate’s stands on the issues.

“ICUL and its member credit unions represent more than one million Iowans,” stated Jon Murphy, Director of Government Affairs for ICUL. “Our members come from all political parties, and have asked that we keep them informed on federal and state issues. This Forum offers our members a unique opportunity to hear from candidates from both parties, and to hear their solutions to the important issues facing Iowa.”

Confirmed for the Forum are the following candidates:

  • Anesa Kajtazovic (D)
  • Pat  Murphy (D)
  • Dave O’Brien (D)
  • Monica Vernon (D)
  • Gail Boliver (R)
  • Walt Rogers (R)
