Janice Lehman, CEO of SEG Federal Credit Union, named 2019 Credit Union Professional of the Year

HELENA, MT (May 31, 2019) — Janice Lehman, president and CEO of SEG Federal Credit Union (SEG FCU), has been named the 2019 Montana Credit Union Professional of the Year, recognizing her more than 38 years of credit union advocacy in Montana.

Lehman has been the face of SEG FCU for 38 years. In that time, she has truly devoted herself to the growth and development of the credit union. Her dedication is showcased by SEG FCU’s growth from roughly $300,000 in assets to more than $7 million.

“Janice’s long-term commitment on behalf of the credit union movement has made a profound impact,” said Tracie Kenyon, president and CEO of Montana’s Credit Unions. “She knows what it takes to make a successful community and is passionate about sharing it with those around her. She is an irreplaceable part of our credit union family.”

Lehman is not only a leader in the industry but she is consistent in her efforts to promote the credit union philosophy. She has served on the Montana Credit Union Advocacy Council, Montana’s political action committee, for many years.

“I have worked with Janice for 23 years now and it has been inspiring watching her continue to shape and grow the practices of our credit union through the evolution of technology and the constant changes of the industry,” said Danielle Kopp, vice president of SEG FCU. “Her devotion to the credit union philosophy has kept us at the forefront of the credit union movement. We are lucky to have her leading our team!”

Lehman is extremely active in the Midlands Empire Chapter of Credit Unions where she has served as an officer for more than 20 years. She consistently embraces the credit union philosophy of “people helping people.” Much of her time is given to community service through her involvement in the chapter-sponsored events such as the Rubber Duck Regatta, Shred-a-Thon and financial reality fairs. Not only is she active in her local chapter, she is also extremely active in her local community. She takes part in the prevention of elder abuse, the Chamber of Commerce, City Improvement Committee, and Community Hope Foundation.

Each year Montana’s Credit Unions name a Credit Union Professional of the Year, an award designed to honor certain individuals whose work and dedication stand out in Montana’s credit union landscape. The award is peer-nominated and Lehman is the sixteenth person to be named Montana’s Credit Union’s CU Professional of the Year.
