Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union awards $9,500 in scholarship money

LOWELL – Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union is pleased to announce the winners of this year’s MoneyStrong college scholarship program. The winners received a total of $9,500 to help fund their education costs.

“College expenses have risen dramatically in recent years and we are happy to provide hard-working local students with assistance in meeting those costs,” said Mark S. Cochran, President and Chief Executive Officer of Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union.

The winners of Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union’s 15th annual scholarship contest were asked to respond to the following: “What is the most important financial lesson you have learned, and how does your credit union membership factor into that lesson?”  The submitted essays were informative and well-written. The high school winners each received a $500 scholarship at a recent reception at Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union’s headquarters at 1 Tremont Place, Lowell. The two college winners each received a $1,000 scholarship at the reception.

The MoneyStrong scholarship winners include: Gabrielle Grant of Dracut, College of the Holy Cross; Jacob Ashley of Chelmsford, University of Massachusetts Lowell; Curtis Boucher of Dunstable, Central Catholic High School; Kripa Joseph, Chelmsford High School; Joshua Lowe of Dracut, Essex Technical High School; Katelyn Leboeuf, Dracut High School; Alexander Corcoran, Dracut High School; Andrew Karlson, Dracut High School; Mackenzie Webb of Dunstable, Groton Dunstable Regional High School; Sandy Hean, Lowell High School; Kimberly Nguyen, Lowell High School; Katherine Coughlin, Lowell High School; Daniel Rios, Lowell High School; Alexis Sprowl, Lowell High School; Brooke Paradis, Pelham High School; Emily Holleran of Methuen, Presentation of Mary Academy; and Karolina Rijo, Lowell High School.

Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union also awarded $4,500.00 in employee college scholarships. Recipients of $1,000.00 scholarships are: Jessica McNeill, University of New Hampshire; Meghan Messer, University of Massachusetts Lowell; and Sarah Comtois, Saint Joseph’s College of Maine. Recipients of $500.00 scholarships are: Ariel Rothman, American University; Kellie McDonald, Massachusetts College of Art and Design; and Carlos Ortiz, University of Massachusetts Lowell.
